This entrance would also double up as the principal disabled access to the church. The positioning of the extension is intended to minimise the visual impact being hidden away from the principal highway of Lutterworth Road imposed on the existing fabric of the listed church and this concept was backed by HDC conservation officer in compliance with their Local Plan policy EV15, i.e. the massing, footprint, form etc would not adversely affect the fabric of the Grade II* listed church.

The local parish church council of St. Mary’s Church seized a financial opportunity to enhance their asset to provide additional facilities in order to introduce a multi-functional building for the benefit of the village and its surrounding catchment areas. The extension also provides the parish council additional accommodation which allows them to grow progressively and continuously.
